The Board Speaker™ is the ideal companion to the Boardmaker® software, allowing you to speech-enable picture/symbol cards that you create. You select the symbols you want and the message you want to play back and the web application will create these custom picture cards for you in easy-to-use interface. The Board Speaker is also ideal for the learning disabled individuals as they function not only as an AAC device, but also as a repetitive learning exercise tool. Each person would benefit from customized lesson plans instead of "standard lessons" as with many picture card based system.
With Board Speaker, one can change the individual picture cards without needing to even touch them. Compared to the overlay systems which often require the teacher/OT to change overlays for the user, the Board Speaker is so easy to use that the user can change the picture cards without any assistance.
The Board Speaker features the industry standard DECtalk text-to-speech system so you have a highly intelligible and configurable text-to-speech system.
Furthermore, the Board Speaker is an ideal reading tool for the children! Children can read and follow the story at their own pace, they will never tire of hearing the same stories over and over again!

Smart Speaker™ is an add-on for the AlphaSmart® NEO, 3000 and 2000 giving users a simple low-cost way of getting speech output. Based on the industry standard DECtalk, Smart Speaker is versatile yet powerful. One can directly type in messages to be spoken, or one can select a phrase from commonly used phrases that one has stored on the AlphaSmart®. This is the lowest cost DECtalk based speech synthesizer solution on the market today.
Note: Smart Speaker is NOT a screen reader, it does not support speaking as you are typing.

Operating Requirements
• A computer with internet access for creating the picture cards
(PC, Mac or any other computers with industry standard internet browser)
• For printing Board Speaker Labels:
- any inkjet/laser printer
• For printing Board Speaker Cards:
- Epson PictureMate inkjet printer
• Consumables: Special 4"x6" Board Speaker Cardstock required for printing Board Speaker Cards, available for purchase
• Board Maker™ is not required but may be used for creating picture symbols
• No PC required. Caution: The unit is not waterproof or spill proof. For indoor use only.
