Basic Paragraph Practice
Give students a fool-proof strategy for writing paragraphs with this
complete writing program by Kristina Swann. When faced with a
standardized-test prompt, journal topic, or essay question, many
students have difficulty deciding what to write, how much to write,
and what order to write in. Use this process to help.
The Process
Using a graphic organizer, students write a
5-sentence paragraph, including a topic sentence, 3 detail
sentences, and a concluding sentence. Each sentence goes in its own
box so that students can be sure to include all the parts. The last
step is to rewrite the 5 sentences in paragraph form.
